Crowd - anticrowd model of the Minority Game

چکیده
We provide a theoretical description of the Minority Game in terms of crowd effects. The size of the fluctuations arising in the game is controlled by the interplay between crowds of like-minded agents and their anti-correlated partners (anticrowds). The theoretical results are in good agreement with the numerical simulations over the entire parameter range of interest.

Crowd-Anticrowd Theory of Multi-Agent Minority Games
We present a formal treatment of the Crowd-Anticrowd theory of Minority Games played by a population of competing agents. This theory is built around a description of the crowding which arises within the game’s strategy space. Earlier works have shown that this theory provides a simple, yet quantitatively accurate explanation of the time-averaged behavior of these multi-agent games. We also dis...
متن کاملCrowd - anticrowd theory of the Minority Game
The Minority Game is a simple yet highly non-trivial agent-based model for a complex adaptive system. Despite its importance, a quantitative explanation of the game's fluctuations which applies over the entire parameter range of interest has so far been lacking. We provide such a quantitative description based on the interplay between crowds of like-minded agents and their anti-correlated partn...
متن کامل0 Stochastic strategies in the Minority
We show analytically how the fluctuations (i.e. standard deviation σ) in the Minority Game (MG) can decrease below the random coin-toss limit if the agents use more general, stochastic strategies. This suppression of σ results from a cancellation between the actions of a crowd, in which agents act collectively and make the same decision, and an anticrowd in which agents act collectively by maki...
متن کاملMemory is relevant in the symmetric phase of the minority game.
Minority game is a simple-mined econophysical model capturing the cooperative behavior among selfish players. Previous investigations, which were based on numerical simulations up to about 100 players for a certain parameter alpha in the range 0.1 < approximately alpha < approximately 1, suggested that memory is irrelevant to the cooperative behavior of the minority game in the so-called symmet...
متن کاملError-driven global transition in a competitive population on a network.
We show, both analytically and numerically, that erroneous data transmission generates a global transition within a competitive population playing the "Minority Game" on a network. This transition, which resembles a phase transition, is driven by a "temporal symmetry breaking" in the global outcome series. The phase boundary, which is a function of the network connectivity p and the error proba...
